To estimate the operating life of the steadywash™ and the associated washing machine, a Maytag MFW9700 was modified to restart itself at the end of each cycle, and was loaded with 670g of unbalancing weight in the drum.

The machine was operated continuously on a first generation platform with the number of runs recorded via a digital counter. This machine has accumulated over 15,000 rinse and spin cycles, and continues to operate. This is equivalent to 15 years of trouble free service.
